“In today’s episode of my 90 Days Video Challenge, I want to talk about the power of adding value to your audience.”
If you’re reading this article, chances are you are an online entrepreneur or you are looking for tips on how to be a more valuable person to your audience or customers.
This means that you probably have a service or an offer that you would like to put in front of your audience in hope for them to buy what you have, right?
Trying to sell your services or your products to as many people as possible is a normal process and that’s what every business owners want.
What’s the point of having a business if you can’t sell what you have and make money in the process?
The problem today is that everybody wants to sell something. Whenever you open your inbox to check your emails, when you walk down the street or when you turn on your TV, you see and get tons of offers from people trying to sell you’re their stuff.
Today we are constantly being marketed to by people or companies we don’t even know. We live in a world were advertising is almost everywhere. The problem with that approach is that people are becoming more and more smart and think twice before clicking on a link or a banner.
Even email marketing is declining because their opening rates are getting more and more low. Since they now know that what people want is to pitch them and try to sell them their products, they tend to ignore emails they receive.
That means that trying to sell or promote your offers via email can be challenging if you don’t have a responsive list.
So as a marketer, you may probably ask yourself: “How can I build that responsive list?”
My answer is: “By giving value to your audience first.”
Yes! You read that right. If you want to get more people to open your emails and buy your offers, you need to focus on more on adding value to people instead of just trying to push products that many don’t even need.
Adding value to your audience will help you establish a long term relationship with them. This will encourage them to know, like and trust you. As a result, your business will grow in a way that creates sustainable results and a natural pathway to closing more deals later.
So how do you shift from just being another “pitch guy” from becoming a marketer who cares about their audience by providing them the solutions they need to overcome their problems?
You can do so by applying the 80/20 rule.
This means that you must spend 80% of your time trying to help your audience and 20% trying to push your offers.
If you are someone like me, you probably receive tons of emails from people you don’t have any connection with trying to sell you their stuff. And if you are like me, you probably delete these junk emails without even opening them.
Because these people are useless to you. They don’t give you any value. They’ve never built any relationship with you and they spam your inbox hoping that you will buy from them.
As a marketer, you don’t want to be like them. You want to add value to your list first then build a strong relationship with them.
There are many ways and tools you can use to give value to your audience and you don’t necessary need to be an expert or have a big budget for that. According to your experience and your background, you probably know things that many people out there don’t know and many would be more than honored to learn from you.
Hence you can use your knowledge to create trainings for your team or providing them with a done-for-you service they can use to get more traffic to their website or make more money from their business.
Here are a few ideas of what you can provide to your audience to impact them.
You can also:
- – Create tutorial videos
– Create free trainings
– Create a PDF document in which you share your top 10 tips to do this or that
– Give them valuable tips on how to get more traffic
– Invite them to a live webinar you or an expert is hosting
– Give them free stuff and other bonuses you may have just to let them know that your attentions are not to sell them all the time…
It’s a win-win situation. The more you give, the more they will give you back in return. Never underestimate the power of reciprocity.
No matter what kind of business you may have, your success will depend on the amount of value you provide to those who are more likely to buy from you. When you focus on the needs of your audience and create value added solutions for them, you separate yourself from the mass and set yourself up for long term success.
So if you truly want to make a huge difference and create value added solutions for your audience, you need to know who you are creating solutions for and you need to ask yourself a few questions such as:
- Do you know who your audience is?
What are their needs? What struggles are they going through?
What challenges are they facing in their lives and in their business?
What make them want to work with you and not with the next guy?
How can your product or service help them solve their problems?
Understanding the pain points of your audience is a key factor if you want to provide them with solutions that best fit their needs.
Once you know what they are going through and you put the right solutions in front of them, then your solutions will be welcome because they will know that they will relieve their pain and create a better life for them.
No matter what you do in your business, always keep in mind that today people are overwhelmed with the tons of offers they get daily and many don’t even bother paying attention to the emails they receive.
If you want them to open your emails or click on your links, it is very important that you take time to solve their problems before trying to sell them what you have.
Don’t hesitate to accept to give up a small fraction of profits early in the journey in order to create long term results for your business on the back end and for years to come.
Giving value to your audience is very important if you want to make a long lasting impact in your industry. The problem is many online entrepreneurs don’t know how to give value either because they just got started or because they don’t have a clue on what to provide to the market place.
